Rien Coorevits
Implements for drawing / Objects For Hiding A shroud is an article of clothing or a hanging cloth intended to cover some part of the head or face, or an object of significance. Rien Coorevits’s work spans a wide array of disciplines, from printmaking to video work, and music to performance. For this exhibition, Rien developed a machine that helps him create a unique type of drawing that blurs the lines between drawing, printmaking, and textile design. His earlier work in tool-making and robotic drawings culminates in a series of shrouds and veils—or rather, drawings of shrouds and veils. He invites us to see what isn’t shown while presenting us with a tool to conceal what we don’t want to expose.
